friend: Why would we want to only share our life with one person. How strange...
me: haha, my thought on this subject matter is LONG,complicated, and majorly intricate, with many metaphors/analogies,and even after writing only part of the answer down, I realized it doesn't quite capture all my thoughts. in fact, i think the answer is even more complicated then i am as a person.
AND constantly evolving and changing.. but before i share the answer, it'd help if you've ever read any of the old Anne McCaffrey dragon books to get the beginning of that answer.
for short of the part or section of the answer where I happen to disagree.. i think you take that one person and they become so much an integral part of you, that not only are you sharing the world with them, you then go out and share them with the world.
ahh... see, i think I like to think I like to think of it as finding one person who is not like a soul mate, since i think we have at least a dozen or so of those... and not even quite like the imzadi idea in star trek, which although they purport to be only one, I've found in life to not be accurate..
but more like your dragon counterpart (that is if you've ever read any anne mccaffrey's dragon books). Ideally, though, i do I wish all humans treated each other with that dragon like ultimate acceptance and nonstop continuous reassurance waves of love for each other..
no, for me, though, i think it's about finding that other person who do share your ENTIRE life with going out, living life, and being social as a unit - as a new "one". Your "one" has expanded to include the other making up the new whole -- being social as the new whole. And of course, keeping in mind that just as a single human has many parts, ie the right brain does NOT always communicate or interact with the left brain and both do and are separate things part of the whole brain. the other person, is separate but is what makes the unit whole. Noted, though, unlike the other two parts to a brain which are always stuck together, I am aware that human journeys tend to weave in and out.. sometimes we share the journey together, and weave together our journey so well that we actually grow whole like two trees growing close together, but sometimes, we do our own seperate journey. (perhaps again, like the two trees sharing food like in a graft, but spreading out in different ways). or sometimes, the trees actually just never quite join.
allright my ideas on this subject matter are continually changing, evolving and are in flux.
but I do believe that it is possible to find a person at least for that moment that you share your whole life with so completely.
